Delano-Nulty Award

For nearly 50 years, Lyric Theatre Company has been part of the dynamic arts community in the area. For the past several years, Lyric Theatre Company has awarded $2,000 to an area high school senior to help support their interest in pursuing an education in the performing arts. This scholarship, The Delano-Nulty Award, honors two of Lyric’s founding members—Howard Delano and Polly Nulty.


Criteria and Instructions for the 2022 Delano-Nulty Award

  • Graduation from an area high school, with plans to attend college or higher education in the arts next fall.
  • Involvement in theatre or the performing arts through Lyric Theatre Company, school productions, OR other area theatre companies.
  • Demonstration of continuing interest in the performing arts.
  • Educational/career goals that relate to the performing arts (theatre performance, music, dance, or technical theatre).

​In addition to the official application, the applicant must provide two letters of recommendation from their drama or music director, or an adult who has supervised/instructed the applicant in performance or technical aspects of theatre. These letters should be in a sealed envelope marked “Confidential”, and included in the application package.

The Lyric Community is proud to present The 2021 Delano-Nulty Award to Delanee Hill of Middlesex, Vermont!
Lyric Executive Director, Erin Evarts, presents Delanee Hill with her award on June 3, 2021.

Delanee recently graduated from U-32 High School, and will pursue Music Therapy at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia this fall. She has appeared in various dance and theatrical productions from Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier to The Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Congratulations, Delanee!
